THE CYCLES OF LIFE
HOW GARDENERS CAN SAVE THE WORLD
(A narrative index - click titles to see the article)

"Environmental problems, worldwide, can be solved by understanding and working with the carbon cycle on our farms, ranches, gardens and landscapes. "

From "Understanding the Carbon Cycle and Life" (below)

Food for Thought - "Modern studies have many times shown that nutrition has an effect on the behavior of animals and humans. Could the root of all the troubles in the world be from over-processed, de-vitalized, chemicalized foods grown in poor soil? Could these facts be too simple to be understood by our powerful but poorly nourished brains?"

Observe the Cycles of Life - "If man understood the laws of recycle and return, he would without delay put back onto the land all manure and organic waste he generates. Understanding these positive laws will determine man's future on Earth."

Carbon Cycle - An understanding of the carbon cycle not only reveals the awesome beauty of life at work, but also indicates a direction toward the salvation of the planet.

Understanding the Carbon Cycle and Life - "If we increased the organic content of just our cropland in the US a puny one percent we would take 4.55 billions tons (over half of what the world generates annually) of CO2 out of the air and return it to the soil."

Carbon Cycle and Health - "Bad farming practices, over tilling and over-use of high analysis, carbonless, chemical fertilizers have destroyed the organic content and health of our food producing soils. This is causing serious environmental problems of soil erosion, water shortages, air pollution and nitrate toxicity in much of our drinking water. These environmental problems adversely affect the health of plant, animal and human life on earth."

The Life Cycle and Man - If we would humble ourselves and study Nature’s ways of soil improvement instead of always trying to dominate her, our soil, plants and all higher life, us included, would be much healthier and happier.

The destruction and survival of a Beautiful Planet - "If man, with his free will, and supposable intelligent but sometimes arrogant brain, doesn’t learn to be neighborly, stop warring, and start respecting the dirt under his feet, he will destroy the planet for himself and most other, species. Then planet earth will be given back to lowly soil creatures. The microbes, will once again, start Earth on the path, to become fertile, beautiful and habitable."

Our future - "World economy is connected to the soil.  The only virgin wealth a nation has, is what is grown on the soil using sunshine, air, and water. And what is pumped or mined from the ground.   However, the wealth pumped or mined will be exhausted some day.  But, at the hands of skilled growers, the wealth grown from fertile soil, such as fruit, nuts, grain, vegetables, flowers, trees, grass, and farm animals can be renewable forever and ever.

Recycling organics or recycling anything, for that matter, is also creating new wealth.  New wealth is what sets an economy in motion. Everything else is buying or selling a service.

Is mulching and conservation farming too simple an answer to so many problems?

As gardeners, farmers and ranchers who love, understand and work with Nature, We can make a difference.

Planet Earth Needs Our Help!"
